Our Hay

We grow high-altitude Timothy grass in our hay meadows. It is certified “weed-free” hay by the Colorado Department of Agriculture. The grass grows slowly at this altitude and in this climate - but the upside is that it typically contains more protein than grass which grows more quickly. Local legend has it that South Park hay was considered so extraordinary that it was once shipped to the Queen of England and to the Russian Czars for their horses.

We sell both large round bales as well as small square bales. To purchase hay, please call Jean at 303.517.9428 or email jean@eaglerockbeef.com for pricing and information.

NOTE: Hay is available for ranch pick up ONLY. However, private transport arrangements can be arranged by the buyer at the buyers expense. Please call to discuss.

In 1884, the Rocky Mountain News reported that:

... the agricultural domain of Park County is chiefly in that most beautiful high valley known as South Park. . . . The chief product of this region is hay, the quality of which is unsurpassed by any known, if indeed it is not superior to any other. It is the native grass of the country, which runs to a bright green color. Horses and cattle will trample over the best timothy and clover to get this native hay of the parks.
